Today is got to be a beautiful day. My decision for arriving early without companion finally justify itself despite few days of deadly boredom. The orientation is the reason for being brave and today I’m attending it. I got myself prepared and walked to school around 8 in the morning. As I walk, as usual, I spotted a few great cars. One of them being my neighbour’s Imprezza WRX and another is a RX8.

Beside cars, I took an opportunity to stop by below a pine tree to take a picture. It makes me think of one of my favourite childhood character, Chips and Dale.

I arrived in campus pretty early and decided to walk around to enjoy the beautiful morning. Then, I spotted a few young man arrive in their superbike. They sounded great even in low rev.

As the campus begin crowded with students, the orientation official ceremony held in a grass pitch below some right in the middle of campus. It is called Henderson Court. Just as the picture shown, the students sit on grass. This is something that quite impossible in my homeland as the grass here is so soft, even better than carpets.

The orientation tours were lead by the university counsellor. We were divided into groups of 15 and the tour was concentrated in the big library. This was the first time I enter such library with great facilities, even greater than the national Library in Malaysia. I also took the opportunity to register my laptop to their system so that it partially frees me from problematic connection in my temporary shelter. Mention about the connection at my place, it gives me headache again!

The following picture is actually kind of curiosity. It is a rock carving in front of the entrance of Architecture Faculty.

The administration office was so crowded, filled with students that want to get their things done. This is the only place that I figured out black hairs outnumbered blonde.

The afternoon was a bit warm in heart as I was having lunch at the Bookmark Café with a friend from Metropolitan College back in K.L. Jamie is her name. I met her in the morning on my way to the orientation. I don’t know if I looked too confident or too brave, she asked me to attend the orientation tour together. So, finally after everything settled down, we had an hour plus of lunch and chit chat. The moment was wonderful for me; at least for few days in Perth this was the first time I can talk that much after few lonely days. In Mandarin, of course. Oh yes, in that case, my parents wouldn’t be alleged me for bad breath after few days of shutting mouth.
Shame that I forgot to took a picture of her and our jumbo size meal.
On the way back, I stopped by at the neighbourhood stores again to get newspaper and check out the local post office. I got myself a street directory for Perth. If anyone’s eyes are sharp enough, you will notice the headline of the paper. So, human is still human, eastern and western worlds are all same. No matter how popular and capable is Mr. Rudd, the new Prime Minister for Australia after defeated John Howard, politicians never left themselves with clean hands. For your information, Mr. Rudd is the first Mandarin-speaking head of government in western countries. He named himself a Chinese name, 陆克文.

However, it is also clearly exhibit that there is more freedom for journalists in Australia. They need not to cover up the rotten apple despite Mr. Rudd is still in the office.
The subsequent section of blog is about cars, again. People who know me long enough should know that I’m such a car fanatics. Skip it if you think that it waste your time reading.
There was a row of nice cars when I run my errant at neighbourhood stores. From the picture, you could see sexy black Boxter, shiny silver Imprezza, clean white Ultima and such. The 2 individual pictures I believe that it were grey Holden Commodore and white new Altis. The cute little car beside new Altis I believe is Fiat Panda. Mind you, the Commodore is really ‘commodore’, looked fierce and sounded fierce. V8 under the hood perhaps? And the black humble Corolla hatchback is the housemistress’ car.

The dinner was better tonight. I packed spicy chicken rice from neighbourhood lunch bar this afternoon.

As usual, I took some moments enjoying the breeze and scenery after dinner. I found Audi trademark on the glass sliding door. Does Audi ever produce glass sliding doors?

As the fourth day had passed, I found myself started to adapt to the life in Perth. It was not that hard as I expected. What I think is mainly about the financial support of family. Without a strong financial backbone, life may get pretty nasty here. Not failed to mention, the support of friends is equally important.
