Day 2 (16th February 2008)

As I have planned, I woke up at 9 in the morning today to begin my first scouting mission. The place is so new to me and I need to establish some reconnaissance of the neighnourhood. The most important aspect is to locate the shortest way to Curtin and the neighbourhood stores. As I walked out of the housing block, I took this picture to show how is my temporary shelter look like. The picture shown the out most unit of the block but the houses are similar.

While walking between the blocks, I discover the neighbour actually has few nice ride, namely a Lancer Coupe and 2 other cars in the picture, white Colt Turbo Ralliart and Porsche 911 Targa.

The journey to Curtin took me 10 minutes of walk in breeze down the road. The east entrance of the campus is remark by a gigantic shuttle bus station. It has 2 sides for 2 different bus headings.

The campus is seperated from outside by black long-winding grille. As I entered the east entrance, a beautiful grass compund and a nice glass building expansion was seen.

After passed through this building, there is a larger green compound with beautiful lanscaped floral and bushes. This was where I suddenly said to myself, "Ah, at last, I have come to a campus that is worth spending my time and money". Next to the compound is the library building, which is large grey building surrounded by trees. Beside the library I found the chemistry lab which look like a factory during industry age in Europe. The other side was unknown structure constructed in a similar design.

Being unlucky, the International Student Service is close on Saturday therefore I failed my first task to collect my offer letter and student ID. The building next to it was an interesting one called 'The Guild'. It has a compound in the middel as shown in the picture with shops surrounding it. There are a variety of shops including clothing, eatery, spectacles etc. It feels like the place will get you equip if you have money. If you are a hardcore RPG or MMORPG fans, you will know what I'm talking about. If you play DOTA, guild will be the place you spawn.

After the Guild, there were 2 building which i will spend a big part 0f my life in Perth; Curtin Business School 1 and 2. Building 1 is the grey tall building in the pictures which I took at 2 different angles. Building 2 will be the with Red mansory finishes.

As I walked back from the campus, I took the following 2 pictures. First is to show that how good the road is in Perth but sadly there's so little car. Traffic jam is probably something the locals miss out from their dictionary. The second picture shows how the student on-campus house look like.

I managed to stop by the neighbourhood stores to purchase some supplies. The second picture shows the list of my first purchase made in Perth: (from left) body shampoo, hair shampoo, toilet paper rolls, big milk, big Coke, drinking water, cereals and frozen pizza. The picture was took during I had my lunch in a lunch bar situated next to the store. It is operated by Singaporean Malay and it even has Nasi Lemak and Rendang! I had my first proper meal of chicken rice and Coke.

During my lunch, I was lucky enough to make the first friend in Perth. His name is John and he is from Malacca. We chat a bit and exchanged our contact. Later came 2 ladies in a Celica. One of them is a cute and petite stunning blonde. But hey, what the heck? Blonde eat nasi lemak?

Another thing I bought in the bar is newspaper. It was The Western Australian and claimed by the Malay auntie that it is the highest circulated paper here.

The dinner for today was far more better than yesterday. I baked myself the frozen pizza.

The day was far less tense and tiring today. So, after dinner I had a good time appreciating the sunset in the house frontyard.

Hereby, I would like to thank my family and friends who read my blogs and comment to me. I will try to keep the blog hot with something everyday.
